My Pack Track
I have two kids. When the second one was born and the first one was 2, we owned a 1996 model 2 door Ford Tempo. Two car seats, lots of road trips from Tacoma Washington to Salem Oregon. No issues with the car, the amount of seat room, or 'convenience'.When the kids were 3 and 5, and after numerous fuel pump failures, we traded the Tempo in on a used Lumina 4 door.
Similar feeling in size. Not any more convenient than the Tempo, if anything I was worried about the kids trying to open the doors while we drove. At ages 7 and 9 the Lumina blew a head gasket and we got a used 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix 4 door, less back seat room than the Tempo. No more convenient. At ages 9 and 11, while still owning the Pontiac, I bought my '69 Charger. More back seat room and the kids preferred riding in it over the Pontiac. Never complained about climbing into the back seat. Trunk is huge, actually bigger than the Pontiac's trunk, the Lumina's trunk and the Tempo's trunk. At ages 14 and 16 the Pontiac blew oil out the side of the block, and was replaced by a 2008 Impala LTZ 4 door.

Back seat room about the same as the Charger, no more convenient, kids still preferred riding in the Charger. Charger's trunk was still bigger. At ages 15 and 17 we traded in the Impala for an '11 Challenger R/T Super Track Pack, with Exterior Appearance Package.

Back seat room actually the same or bigger than the '69 Charger. Trunk almost as big the '69 Charger. No less convenient than any other vehicle we have owned. Better mileage than all but one of our 4 door cars (Impala).
Kids eyes stayed bulged out for at least a week after we drove it home. Youngest son got his drivers license in it. Never a single issue or complaint from either kid about the Challenger. Two weeks ago we drove to Missouri in the Challenger, and brought our oldest son home on leave. We had 3 adults, two gym bags, two full size pillows, 4 blankets, a Chrysler car care bag, 2 5-gallon buckets (for cleaning the poor car.), 3 military duffel bags, a military back pack, a gaming case with built in screen and speakers housing an x-box 360, a laptop computer, a small cooler, and various snacks and bottled water.and we still had some room. Thus, from my own personal experience with kids and cars over the last 21 years, I just can't buy into the 'I have kids' and or 'I have a family' argument regarding not buying a Challenger. Life is short. If you really want a Challenger, and can afford it, I say buy one.
It's been the best modern car we've ever owned. (modern being anything newer than 1980.)Living at the top of 3 flights of stairs in Panama in WWII era Army housing that had been condemned by the Air Force when our kids were born, now THAT was inconvenient.
